Nevada Opal mining claims

Howdy from the Virgin Valley Opal Mining District located in Humboldt County, Nevada where Black, White, Crystal, Fire and Precious Wood Matrix has been mined since their 1905 "discovery" in America. I came over to the Virgin Valley in 1993 from the Klamath area and pegged the Swordfish claim group. I then hooked up with Leah Brashear who had first started coming here with her mom Marie and Grandparents. There been have various tribulations and trials that have taxed our patience and resolve, but I'm still here mining opals and plan to stay. Leah is survived by her mom and her children who are still mining in her footsteps on family claims.

The brilliance, size, and qualities of our opals play of color is unique. I sell natural solid gemstones and specimens of opalized woods, limb casts, bark replacements, and pine cones along with EVERYTHING else that might be found here such as Psilomelene, Gypsum, Agate and Jasper. Other common opal occurs in veins and nodules that offer both collectors and cutters variety. Opal is a mineral pseudomorph (meaning it fills holes) and can often be lifelike. Sometimes opal bones are found from the Miocene. There is no big supply of cutting rough from all these mines put togather. Almost all the opal is mined and consumed by their rockhounds. John Church (me), as Swordfish Mining, offers opal rough, gemstones, and specimens. With Kokopelli Opal I hope to offer great natural and treated opal gems and specimens and even some natural and treated rough to cut maybe.
YOUR luck, skill, and effort are the factors of which mine to go to, or which claim to buy, and then what opals you'll come away with. We have fair offerings but each mine has it's own nature, facilities, and operators to experience. Swordfish Mining links to all their sites to make it easier for you to contact them directly. You have to work hard for what you MAY find, so don't give up. Opal is available in the gift shops. Ask the owners your questions about their dates, times and fees. Opal is where you find it, the best may come from anywhere and is certainly not unearthed yet.
